Adrianna Aryanna Kirkendall-Sosa, a 20-year-old Latina, was tragically killed on April 16, 2016, in Long Beach, California. According to the Los Angeles County coroner's records, she was found in the passenger seat of her boyfriend's car, which was parked about 50 yards from where her boyfriend, Jose Jesus Rivera-Olivarez, was discovered dead. Kirkendall-Sosa had been shot in the back of the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
During the autopsy, it was revealed that she was nine weeks pregnant at the time of her death.
The investigation into her death revealed that Rivera-Olivarez had been hit on the head with a blunt object and subsequently suffered a heart attack while trying to escape from the perpetrator. He was found on a resident's porch, gasping for air and calling for help, but was pronounced dead shortly after. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department took over the investigation due to the related nature of the two deaths.
Kirkendall-Sosa's death left behind two young children, ages 2 and 4, who were in foster care at the time. Her family described her as a dedicated mother who was working hard to regain custody of her children. Despite her struggles, she was remembered as a loving and caring individual who was making positive changes in her life.
The investigation into the murders of Kirkendall-Sosa and Rivera-Olivarez is ongoing. The Sheriff's Department has urged anyone with information to come forward, but as of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case remains open, with the hope that new leads will eventually bring justice for the victims and their families.
