Dalby Perez, a 24-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on August 11, 2016, at Alvarado Terrace Park near West 14th and South Bonnie Brae streets in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. Perez and another man were spending time at the park when a white sedan approached them. A man from the front passenger side of the car opened fire, striking Perez. The other man was not injured.
Perez was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m. The vehicle fled the scene, heading northbound on South Bonnie Brae Street and onto West Pico Boulevard.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) has been investigating the case, trying to determine the motive behind the shooting. Although Perez was not a documented gang member, the incident is believed to be related to gang activity. The police have been seeking information from the public to help solve the case, urging anyone with details to contact LAPD Rampart detectives or Crime Stoppers for anonymous tips.
As of now, there have been no arrests or identified suspects in connection with Dalby Perez's murder. The investigation remains open, with law enforcement continuing to gather evidence and follow leads. The community and Perez's family are still seeking justice for his untimely death, hoping that new information will eventually lead to the apprehension of those responsible.
