Loui Javier Martinez, a 28-year-old Latino, was fatally shot on October 22, 2016, near the intersection of Alameda and East 38th Street in Vernon, Los Angeles County. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. when Vernon police responded to a call regarding a shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers found Martinez with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was immediately transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 6 a.m.
The investigation revealed that the shooting took place in the middle of the roadway and was witnessed by another motorist. The suspect fled the scene westbound on East 41st Street in a blue/green sedan with noticeable damage to the rear bumper. Despite the detailed description of the suspect vehicle, no arrests have been made in connection with Martinez's murder. The Vernon Police Department has urged anyone with information to come forward, offering anonymity through Crime Stoppers.
