William Sims, a 28-year-old musician from El Sobrante, California, was tragically killed on November 12, 2016. Sims was found beaten and shot dead on Appian Way in El Sobrante, a crime that shocked the community and was initially believed to be racially motivated. Sims, who was well-known in the Bay Area music scene, had stopped by the now-defunct Capri Club bar on his way home from another bar. It was here that he encountered his assailants, Ray Simons, Daniel Ortega, and Daniel Porter-Kelly.
