Pablo Delacruz, a 34-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on January 27, 2017, in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. while Delacruz was driving a beige Toyota Highlander east on East 96th Street. As he stopped at a traffic light at Compton Avenue, a black compact car approached from the opposite direction.
A person exited the vehicle, walked up to the driver's side door, and began shooting at Delacruz. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) launched an investigation into the murder, with the Criminal Gang Homicide Division taking the lead.
