Gerardo Martinez, a 20-year-old Latino, tragically lost his life on April 28, 2017, after being shot near East 88th Street and South Central Avenue in the Florence neighborhood of Los Angeles. The incident occurred in the early hours of April 27, around 3:25 a.m., when Martinez was walking in a crosswalk and heard footsteps approaching from behind.
