Ronald Edward Koonce, a 29-year-old man from Los Angeles, California, was tragically shot and killed on June 2, 2017. Koonce was standing in front of 3 Star Market & Liquor with a group of people when a sedan driving south on South Avalon Boulevard approached. A person inside the vehicle began shooting at the group, hitting Koonce.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:16 p.m.
The following day, Lekwan Roberson, a 25-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Roberson faced multiple charges, including one count each of murder, attempted murder, shooting from a motor vehicle, possession of a handgun by a felon, and accessory after the fact. Additionally, he was charged with four counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, along with gang and gun allegations. Roberson's arraignment was scheduled for June 23, 2017.
