Man found stabbed to death on sidewalk below I-610 overpass
In the early morning hours of Saturday, March 6, 2010, a person walking down St. Bernard Avenue in New Orleans made a grim discovery. Beneath the I-610 overpass, in the St. Bernard neighborhood, lay the body of Moises Betancourt Montoya. Authorities who responded to the scene determined that the 36-year-old Hispanic/Latino male had been the victim of a violent attack.
An examination revealed that Mr. Montoya, a native of Honduras who had moved to the United States about four years prior, had sustained multiple stab wounds. Among his injuries was at least one wound to his face. Investigators concluded that the fatal assault had occurred not long before his body was found at approximately 7 a.m.
Despite the passage of time, the case of Moises Betancourt Montoya's murder remains unsolved. Law enforcement officials have not publicly identified any suspects or established a motive for the killing. No arrests have been made in connection with his death, and the investigation is considered an open and ongoing case.
