On July 18, 2017, at approximately 1:50 a.m., 28-year-old Fernando Mendez Jr. was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Fantasy Castle, a gentlemen's club located at 2800 Walnut Avenue in Signal Hill, California. Mendez, a resident of Long Beach, was celebrating a friend's birthday with companions when the incident occurred.
