Katy Ann Nosic, a 27-year-old woman, was tragically shot and killed on September 4, 2017, in the City of Industry, California. Nosic had just finished her shift at the Golden Corral restaurant, where she had been working as a baker in training for three weeks. As she walked outside to a waiting car, another vehicle approached, and a person exited with a gun. The assailant shot Nosic multiple times in the torso before fleeing the scene in a light-colored van or SUV.
Nosic was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:45 p.m. Investigators believe the shooting was related to a domestic dispute.
The investigation into Nosic's death revealed that the suspect, Martin Jesus Godinez, was wanted for the fatal shooting. Godinez was last seen driving a 2003 gold Chrysler Town and Country minivan. Authorities suspect that the motive behind the shooting may have been jealousy, as Nosic was reportedly in a relationship with Godinez's ex-wife. Despite efforts to locate him, Godinez remained at large, and the case was featured on the television show "In Pursuit with John Walsh" to solicit public assistance in apprehending him.
Nosic's death left her family and friends in shock and grief. Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, she was the youngest of four children and the only girl. Her father, Joseph Nosic, expressed the family's desire to bring her body back to Ohio for burial. Friends remembered Nosic as a quiet and kind person who did not deserve such a tragic end. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department continued to investigate the case, urging anyone with information to come forward.
