On October 28, 2017, five-year-old Xavier Smith tragically lost his life in a drive-by shooting in Modesto, California. Xavier and his friend, Deandre Gonder, were playing inside the garage of a home on Lake Park Court when the incident occurred. The boys were enjoying their time together when shots were fired at the house, striking both children. Xavier was fatally wounded, while Deandre, who was six years old at the time, survived the attack but sustained injuries.
