On April 9, 2020, Donald Patterson, aged 57, was fatally shot in the parking lot of a FoodMaxx grocery store located along the 2000 block of W. Briggsmore Avenue in Modesto, California. The incident occurred early in the morning, just before 6 a.m., when Modesto police received reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found Patterson with at least one gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, Patterson succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to a local hospital.
