Daniel Salcido, a 24-year-old resident of Pomona, California, tragically lost his life on December 2, 2017. The incident occurred in the 2400 block of Manville Street, where Salcido was fatally shot while sitting in a dark-colored SUV with two other individuals. According to the Los Angeles County coroner’s records, Pomona police responded to a call about a shooting at approximately 11:15 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers found Salcido had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:30 p.m. The other two men in the vehicle were taken to a hospital and later released. The trio had left a family party earlier that night and were en route to a friend’s house when the shooting occurred. Witnesses reported that a white SUV pulled alongside the passenger side of the vehicle where Salcido was seated, and an argument ensued between the drivers. The driver of the white SUV then pulled out a gun and fired into the vehicle, resulting in Salcido's death.

After a month-long investigation, Pomona Police Department Homicide Detectives identified and arrested a suspect in connection with the murder. Christopher Kearney, a 34-year-old resident of Inglewood, was apprehended on January 29, 2018. The arrest was made during the execution of a search warrant at Kearney's residence, where evidence related to the murder was also recovered. Kearney was subsequently booked for murder, with charges filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. His bail was set at $3 million. If convicted, Kearney faces a potential sentence of 70 years to life in prison.
