Kawanza Hilt, a 17-year-old from Rosamond, California, tragically lost his life on December 12, 2017. He was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the 3400 block of 15th Street West in Rosamond. Despite being transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Initially, three suspects were arrested in connection with Hilt's murder. Matthew Morrissette, Anthony Bonczek, and Arthur Hernandez were charged with murder and participating in a criminal street gang. Bonczek and Hernandez were arrested in December 2018, following a year-long investigation by the Kern County Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit and the Mojave Substation Detective Unit.
