Marcelino Mark Chavez, a 23-year-old Latino male, tragically lost his life on September 1, 2018, in West Whittier-Los Nietos, California. According to the Los Angeles County coroner's records, Chavez was shot and killed in what authorities described as a gang-related incident. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:07 p.m. at a residence on the 11600 block of Nan Street.
