Robert Raymond Dominguez Jr., aged 37, tragically lost his life on April 19, 2019, in Bakersfield, California. The incident occurred in the early hours at an apartment located in the 4100 block of Parker Avenue. Dominguez was shot multiple times during an altercation with his roommate, Juan Pablo Torres. Despite his critical condition, Dominguez managed to identify Torres as the shooter to a person who arrived shortly after the incident.
Unfortunately, Dominguez succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Bakersfield Police Department launched an investigation immediately following the shooting. They discovered that Torres had fled the scene and was later apprehended in Weed, California, on April 23, 2019. Torres, who had a history of firearm and aggravated assault charges, was found with a .40-caliber magazine loaded with live ammunition in his bedroom. Expended .40-caliber shell casings and a live bullet were also found near Dominguez's body, further implicating Torres in the crime.
Torres was charged with murder and held on a $1 million bail. The court documents revealed that the shooting stemmed from an argument between the two roommates. Additionally, a third person was present in the apartment at the time of the shooting but was in a different room. The investigation also uncovered that Torres had expressed hostilities towards Dominguez prior to the incident. Torres' next court appearance was scheduled for May 8, 2019, as the legal proceedings continued to unfold.
