Phung Ngoc Hoang, a 48-year-old resident of San Jose, California, tragically lost his life on June 23, 2019, in a harrowing incident that has been classified as a murder-suicide. The events unfolded in a home located on Habbitts Court, where Phung Ngoc Hoang, along with three other individuals, was shot and killed by 66-year-old Chi Dinh Ta. The victims included 51-year-old Le Thuy Hoang of Milpitas, 23-year-old Thanh Hoa Hoang, and 42-year-old Thi Que Pham.
According to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office, Phung Ngoc Hoang and Thanh Hoa Hoang both died from gunshot wounds to the head, while Le Thuy Hoang succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, and Thi Que Pham died from a gunshot wound to the torso.
The incident began around 8:40 p.m. when police responded to reports of a shooting at the residence. Upon arrival, officers encountered several individuals, believed to be family members, fleeing the scene. Two victims were initially rescued and transported to a local hospital but later succumbed to their injuries. The police re-entered the home around 1:35 a.m. and discovered the bodies of the remaining victims, including the shooter, Chi Dinh Ta, who had turned the gun on himself. Ta's cause of death was determined to be a contact perforating gunshot wound to the head.
