Cam Ha Nguyen Do, a 38-year-old Vietnamese woman, tragically lost her life on January 24, 2020, in Alhambra, California. The incident occurred in the 400 block of North Second Street, where police responded to a call of shots fired at an apartment around 7:15 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Cam Ha Nguyen Do and her husband, Cuong Do, 44, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite attempts to save them, both were pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 7:26 p.m. Their 4-year-old child was present during the incident but was unharmed.
The suspect in this double homicide was identified as Sam Nhat Do, a 42-year-old Vietnamese man and the biological brother of Cuong Do. Sam Nhat Do was apprehended a couple of blocks away from the crime scene after he flagged down an officer and confessed to the shooting. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder. The motive behind the killings remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
Sam Nhat Do was charged with two counts of murder with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, as well as one count of child abuse likely to cause great injury or death. His bail was set at $2 million, and he was scheduled to appear in court on January 28, 2020.
