Deonta Simmons, a 29-year-old resident of Stockton, California, tragically lost his life on February 22, 2020. Known affectionately as "Teddy," Simmons was a beloved husband, father, son, and brother. On the night of his death, Simmons was driving in the area of Wilson Way and Church Street around 1:30 a.m. when an unknown assailant opened fire on his vehicle. The attack caused Simmons' car to crash, and he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
A 21-year-old woman who was with him in the car also sustained injuries but survived the incident.

The suspect vehicle, described as being occupied by two Black male suspects, pulled alongside Simmons' car before the occupants fired multiple shots.
