Daniel Ramos, a 46-year-old resident of Victorville, California, tragically lost his life on July 6, 2020. Ramos was known for his generosity and skill in construction and welding, often helping those in need. On the day of his death, he was involved in a physical altercation in a parking lot near Seventh Street and La Paz Drive, close to Harbor Freight. During this altercation, Ramos was shot and subsequently died from his injuries. The incident occurred while he was assisting his girlfriend, Jessica Schneider, in selling government-funded cell phones. According to Schneider, the altercation began when a customer started giving her attitude, leading Ramos to intervene.
Following the incident, 57-year-old Isagani Tapaoan from Phelan was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder. Tapaoan was already out on bond for separate felony charges, including discharging a firearm with gross negligence and making criminal threats that could result in death or serious injury. He pleaded not guilty to these charges in March. Tapaoan was held without bail at the High Desert Detention Center and was scheduled to appear in court in connection with Ramos' death.
