In the heat of a New Orleans afternoon on July 10, 2012, tragedy struck an 18-year-old male named Jaquon Pittman, just days before he was set to embark on a new chapter of his life by enlisting in the Air National Guard. Around 2:00 p.m. in the 2400 block of Arts Street, the sound of multiple gunshots shattered the neighborhood's calm. Jaquon was in his grandmother's backyard when the violence erupted.
