Michael Ontiveros, also known as Connor, was tragically killed on March 3, 2021, in Yuba City, California. The incident occurred in an apartment located in the 500 block of Gray Avenue. On that day, Yuba City Police Detectives received information about a possible shooting that had taken place days earlier. Upon investigating, they found evidence of a crime scene but were unable to locate Ontiveros' body at the apartment.
This led to the initiation of a homicide investigation.
The investigation into Ontiveros' death was extensive and involved multiple agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, the Chico State University anthropology department, and the Yuba County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Dive Team. Over the course of a year, detectives interviewed numerous witnesses and gathered substantial evidence, which eventually led to the identification of several suspects.
On April 12, 2022, more than a year after the incident, Yuba City Police arrested three individuals in connection with the homicide. Arthur Gomez, Ricky Martinez, and Jaime Gonzalez were charged with being accessories after the fact of murder. Additionally, an arrest warrant was issued for Timothy King, who was already in custody on an unrelated charge. King was charged with murder in connection to Ontiveros' death.
The case remains active, and the Yuba City Police Department continues to seek information from the public to aid in their investigation. Detectives have urged anyone with additional details to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community assistance in solving such cases.
