Edward Henry Steckel Jr., a 58-year-old resident of Los Angeles, California, tragically lost his life on November 28, 2021. According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's records, Steckel was shot near 12634 Amboy Ave. in Sylmar. The incident was reported as a homicide, and his death was a significant loss to his community.
The investigation into Steckel's death revealed that he was murdered by his nephew, Marcel Ianyves Gradvohl.
Gradvohl, who was also responsible for the murder of his own mother, Maureen Rose Gradvohl, used a handgun to kill Steckel. The motive behind these heinous crimes appeared to be related to life insurance money. After committing the murders, Gradvohl attempted to stage his mother's death as a suicide, but detectives quickly saw through the ruse based on the nature of her injuries. Steckel's body was later discovered buried in the backyard of the residence.
