Nikai David, a 33-year-old Black transgender woman, was tragically killed in the early hours of December 4, 2021, in Oakland, California. Nikai, who was a model and aspiring social media influencer, had just celebrated her birthday a week before her untimely death. On that fateful morning, police officers responded to reports of a shooting on Castro Street in West Oakland.
