Omar Sherrieff Akers, a 33-year-old resident of Long Beach, California, tragically lost his life on December 7, 2021, after succumbing to injuries sustained from a shooting incident. The incident occurred on November 29, 2021, near Gumbiner Park and the Museum of Latin American Art. Akers, who was experiencing homelessness at the time, was found with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
