Terrance Coates, a 38-year-old resident of San Bernardino, California, was tragically killed on February 10, 2022. On that evening, at approximately 7:56 PM, the San Bernardino Police Call Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 1300 block of North Arrowhead Avenue. When patrol officers arrived at the scene, they found Coates in his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite their efforts, Coates was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident prompted an immediate investigation by homicide detectives.
During the investigation, detectives identified Quintin Stringfellow, an 18-year-old resident of San Bernardino, as the primary suspect in Coates' murder. Stringfellow was also linked to another fatal shooting that occurred on February 4, 2022, involving Emmett Marcus Stokes. The investigation revealed that a vehicle owned by Stringfellow's mother was used in both murders. On February 16, 2022, San Bernardino Police Department investigators attempted to arrest Stringfellow in Redlands, California. After a brief foot pursuit, Stringfellow was apprehended, and a handgun believed to be used in one of the murders was recovered nearby. Stringfellow, a self-admitted member of the PPHG gang, was subsequently charged with two counts of murder and booked into a local jail facility.
The legal proceedings against Stringfellow have been closely followed. He faces serious charges, including two counts of murder under California Penal Code 187. The case has garnered significant attention due to the violent nature of the crimes and the involvement of gang activity. The San Bernardino Police Department has urged anyone with additional information regarding these incidents to come forward to aid in the ongoing investigation and ensure justice for the victims and their families.
