Daniel Martin Shealor, a 52-year-old resident of Fort Bragg, California, tragically lost his life on August 12, 2022, due to a gunshot wound. The incident occurred early in the morning along Highway 20 near Fort Bragg. Shealor was transported to Adventist Health Mendocino Coast hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) quickly classified the death as a homicide, given the nature of the gunshot wound. The investigation led to the identification of Shayne Wrede as the primary suspect in the shooting. Wrede, who was already out on bail for a previous case, failed to appear in court on August 16, 2022, which resulted in a felony arrest warrant being issued.
On August 25, 2022, with the assistance of the US Marshal Service Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, Wrede was located in Sacramento, California. Despite attempting to flee, he was apprehended and taken into custody without incident. Wrede was subsequently transported back to Mendocino County and booked into the county jail, where he was held on a $575,000 bail.
