The incident occurred in eastern New Orleans, where she was found deceased inside a vehicle. At the time of her death, Jakia was the mother of an 8-month-old daughter, Domi'lae Jori Evans. She was the daughter of Nakia Evans and George Smith, and the stepdaughter of Bertell Delay.
