Giuseppe Morello, a White Caucasian male, was a man of 63 who had carved out a powerful and feared existence in the criminal underworld of New York City. On August 15, 1930, his reign came to a sudden and violent end in his East Harlem office. Morello, along with his associate Joseph Perriano, was in the midst of collecting cash receipts when the fatal encounter occurred.
