Born on May 2, 1867, in Corleone, Sicily, Morello was the first boss of the Morello crime family, which later evolved into the Genovese crime family, one of the Five Families of New York City. Morello was known for his deformed right hand, which resembled a claw, earning him the nickname 'The Clutch Hand.'
