On the evening of October 30, 1976, in Mechanicville, New York, a tragic event unfolded that would forever mark the small city. Paul N. Luther, a 21-year-old male auxiliary policeman, was shot and killed while responding to a call. That same day, Luther had taken the exam to become a full-time patrolman, a goal he would tragically never realize.
