Henry John “Hank” Koebel Jr., a 27-year-old police officer with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, tragically lost his life on May 26, 1978, in Manhattan, New York. Officer Koebel was on foot patrol at the Port Authority Bus Terminal on Eighth Avenue and 41st Street when he encountered an emotionally disturbed man harassing a passerby.
