Tomasz Kaczowka, a 19-year-old firefighter, tragically lost his life on December 24, 2012, in Webster, New York. Kaczowka, along with his mentor and close friend, Lt. Michael "Chip" Chiapperini, was responding to an early morning fire when they were ambushed by a gunman. The perpetrator, William Spengler Jr., had deliberately set his house and car on fire to lure first responders into a deadly trap.
