On the night of November 21, 2014, Jamar Lamar, a 23-year-old resident of Shirley, New York, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Auborn Avenue, where police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found that Lamar had already been transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue by a private vehicle. Despite efforts to save him, Lamar was pronounced dead at the hospital.
