On August 2, 2023, Daniel Johnston, a 32-year-old resident of Shirley, New York, tragically lost his life following a shooting and subsequent vehicle crash. At approximately 8 p.m., Johnston was driving a 2021 Chevrolet southbound in the northbound lanes of William Floyd Parkway when he collided with a pole and fence. First responders discovered that he had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Despite efforts to save him, Johnston was pronounced dead at Long Island Community Hospital in Patchog
