In the Fordham Heights neighborhood of the Bronx, a devoted father's life was tragically cut short in a hail of bullets on the evening of May 9, 2016. Rashaun Ahart, a 35-year-old man, had just returned to his second-floor apartment on Creston Avenue from his job as a security guard. Shortly before 9 p.m., in an act of targeted violence, an unknown assailant fired approximately 14 shots through his apartment door.
Struck multiple times in the chest, Ahart was found grievously wounded.
He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
