In the early hours of a Friday in New Orleans, the life of Monroe Gardner, a 45-year-old man, was cut short by gunfire. On March 18, 2016, in the city's Lower 9th Ward, Gardner was fatally shot, becoming another victim of the gun violence that has plagued the community.
