In the city of Newburgh, a drug deal turned deadly, leading to the shooting death of 31-year-old Hubert Hines. The incident unfolded on Hasbrouck Street when police responded to reports of shots fired. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Hines, a resident of Newburgh, who had succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation into the homicide led police to 24-year-old Fabian Corley, also from Newburgh.
Authorities determined that the shooting was the result of a robbery that occurred during a drug transaction. Investigators recovered a BB gun and a semi-automatic handgun, both believed to have been used during the commission of the crime. Additionally, several pounds of marijuana and grams of cocaine were found at the scene.
Fabian Corley was taken into custody and subsequently charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The swift arrest brought a suspect before the justice system in connection with the violent death of Hubert Hines.
