In the late hours of August 17, 2017, 19-year-old Coree White Jr., a male from Middletown, New York, was shot on Wallkill Avenue. He was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center in a private vehicle, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries during surgery. The investigation into his death was immediately hampered by a lack of cooperation from witnesses, with many refusing to speak with detectives or providing misleading information.
The shooting was determined to be the result of an ongoing dispute between two rival gangs, the 'Coke Wave' and the 'Guap Gang'. Coree White Jr. was allegedly an associate of the Guap Gang. The investigation, dubbed 'Operation Wipeout,' led by the City of Middletown Police Department and the Orange County District Attorney's Office, targeted the criminal activities of the Coke Wave gang, which included narcotics trafficking and acts of violence.
In August 2018, authorities announced the arrests of multiple individuals associated with the Coke Wave gang. Tramel Morman, 25, and Juwan Dolson, 21, were indicted for the murder of Coree White Jr. Isaya Dolson, 23, and Taino Lopez, 20, were also charged with conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the case.
Ultimately, three men pleaded guilty to their roles in the killing. Tramel Morman was sentenced to 18 years in prison for second-degree murder. Juwan Dolson received a 10-year sentence for attempted murder, and Isaya Dolson was sentenced to three to nine years for conspiracy to commit murder. These sentences were part of a broader effort by law enforcement to dismantle the Coke Wave gang and curb gang-related violence in Middletown.
