His family grew especially worried when his daughter's birthday passed without a call from her father, a silence that was deeply out of character for the man known to be a loving and
devoted father of three.
The search for David Dickens-Anderson came to a tragic end on Sunday, October 21, 2018. His body was discovered in the first block of Willert Park Court in Buffalo. Authorities reported that the body was badly decomposed, indicating he had been deceased for some time. The Erie County Medical Examiner's office was tasked with performing an autopsy to determine the official cause of death. The discovery brought a somber closure to his family, who, while grieving, expressed relief that he was no longer a missing person.
The investigation into his death quickly shifted to a homicide case, with the cause of death being attributed to gun violence. Despite the ongoing investigation and the profound loss felt by his family and friends who described him as a cool, funny, and good-hearted person, no immediate arrests were made in connection with his murder. The case remained unsolved, and in an effort to generate new leads, Crime Stoppers of Western New York announced in December 2021 a reward of up to $7,500 for any information that would lead to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for the death of David Dickens-Anderson. The plea to the public for information underscored the ongoing quest for justice for a man whose life was cut tragically short.
