Responding to a 911 call at approximately 4:56 p.m. on December 31st, police discovered Jonathan Berlin inside his fifth-floor residence at 110 Bedford Street with a fatal wound to his stomach.
Emergency medical personnel rushed him to Lenox Hill Hospital, but his life could not be saved.
The initial investigation into the male victim's death suggested a possible connection to a drug transaction that had taken a violent turn. This theory was supported by the discovery of drug paraphernalia, including scales and marijuana, within the apartment. Berlin's wife was present in the apartment at the time of the shooting, though details of what she witnessed have not been publicly disclosed.
