In the late afternoon hours of August 31, 2016, the historic Treme neighborhood of New Orleans was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 37-year-old James Earl Short. A lifelong resident of the city, James, a male, was fatally shot at approximately 5:08 PM, leaving a community in mourning and a family searching for answers.
