In the late morning hours of September 7, 2019, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of a Rochester, New York neighborhood, claiming the life of 46-year-old James Green Jr. Emergency responders were called to a residence on McKinley Street around 10:40 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Green with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
He was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the death of the male victim led authorities to a suspect, 22-year-old Devonte Bouie, a resident of Rochester. A significant and lengthy investigation unfolded, which included the execution of four search warrants at various locations throughout the city. During these searches, investigators recovered three firearms and an unspecified quantity of narcotics.
Following the extensive investigation, Devonte Bouie was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree robbery in connection with the fatal shooting of James Green Jr. At his arraignment in City Court, Bouie entered a plea of not guilty to the charges brought against him. He was subsequently remanded to the Monroe County Jail, where he was held without bail as the legal proceedings in his case commenced.
