In the early morning hours of June 7, 2020, the life of 24-year-old India Butler was tragically cut short in Syracuse, New York. A resident of the city where she was born and raised, Ms. Butler was a vibrant young woman who worked at both UPS and the Movie Tavern. Her life, however, came to a violent end on the 300 block of Ellis Street on the city's East Side.
Syracuse Police responded to a call of a shooting in the area and discovered India Butler with a gunshot wound to her
mid-section. She was rushed to Upstate University Hospital, but the injury proved to be fatal, and she was pronounced dead. The authorities quickly classified her death as a homicide, launching an investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
Despite the ongoing investigation by the Syracuse Police Department, no arrests have been made in connection with India Butler's murder. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the case. The investigation remains open, and law enforcement has appealed to the public for any information that might lead to a breakthrough in solving the crime and bringing justice to her family. Private services were held for Ms. Butler, and she was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
