In the early morning hours of August 20, 2020, the quiet courtyard of the Maple Tree Apartments in East Patchogue, New York, became the scene of a tragedy. It was there that Earle Foster, a 52-year-old male, was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound. Police had responded to a 911 call at approximately 3:05 a.m. reporting an injured man, and upon their arrival, they found Foster, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earle, affectionately known as 'Brown Brother,' was a native of Long
Island, born in Patchogue on November 8, 1968. He was the youngest of thirteen children and was described as a strong, intelligent, and loyal man who deeply valued his family. He was a father to three children and a grandfather to two. Throughout his life, he had worked in various fields, including retail, construction, and real estate, and was considered an asset to his family's business.
The investigation into Foster's death continued for months. Then, in November 2020, a significant development occurred in the case. Suffolk County police arrested two individuals in connection with the killing. Brooke Jackson, 41, and Umar A. El-Quhir Sr., 43, both from Mastic, were taken into custody.
Both Jackson and El-Quhir Sr. were charged with second-degree murder. Following their arrests, they were held at separate precincts and were scheduled for arraignment at the First District Court in Central Islip. The arrests brought a sense of hope for justice to Foster's grieving family and the community that had been impacted by his violent death.
