In the bright afternoon hours of a Harlem day, a dispute tragically escalated, leading to the death of 28-year-old Javon Bradley on September 1, 2020. A resident of the Marble Hill Houses in the Bronx and a father of three, Bradley was on Lenox Avenue near 125th Street at approximately 3 p.m. when the fatal encounter occurred.
Reports indicate that the incident began with a confrontation between Bradley and a drug dealer.
Following this initial dispute, the dealer left the scene, only to return shortly thereafter. Bradley sought refuge in a parked white delivery van, but the assailant approached the passenger side and fired twice, striking him in the neck.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, and paramedics worked to save Bradley before rushing him to Harlem Hospital. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
In the wake of the shooting, the New York Police Department launched an investigation, exploring the possibility that the violence was drug-related. Eyewitnesses reported that the shooter had vowed to return after the initial argument. Police were said to be looking for a suspect who was wearing all black and fled the scene in a BMW. However, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Javon Bradley, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation into his death remains ongoing.
