In the early afternoon of October 3, 2020, tragedy struck in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn when 19-year-old Dashalique Rameau was fatally shot while driving. The young man was behind the wheel of his black 2007 BMW 330i convertible, traveling northbound on East 103rd Street, just a short distance from his home. At approximately 1:07 p.m., an unknown assailant fired at his vehicle, a bullet piercing the rear window and striking Rameau in the head.
After being shot, the BMW continued to move at a high rate of speed before ultimately crashing into an unoccupied parked car near the intersection of Glenwood Road. When police and emergency services arrived at the scene, they found Rameau unconscious and unresponsive in the driver's seat with severe head trauma.
He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the New York Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Authorities reported at the time that no arrests had been made and that the investigation was ongoing. Despite the passage of time, there have been no subsequent public reports detailing any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the murder of Dashalique Rameau. The case remains a painful and unresolved chapter for his family and the Canarsie community.
