A man found dead in a Birmingham home this morning was released from prison less than two years ago after spending 18 years behind bars on a murder conviction.
The Jefferson County Coroner's Office today identified the victim as 41-year-old Dewayne Powell. His body was discovered by firefighters inside a home in the 700 block of New Hill Avenue. Police confirm they are now investigating his death as a homicide.
