In the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama, a sense of community was shattered on the morning of February 19, 2022. On that Saturday, at approximately 11:00 a.m., police were dispatched to a residence on 33rd Street Ensley following a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying unresponsive in the front of the home, having sustained an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the man deceased.
The victim was identified as 46-year-old Anthony Jackson II.
Known affectionately as 'Amp,' Anthony Jackson was a native of Birmingham who had recently moved to the Ensley area with hopes of contributing positively to the community. He was an employee at Carvana and the founder of 'The Winning at Life Group,' an organization that reflected his passion for music and his dedication to mentoring aspiring artists. Family and friends remember him as a giving, loving, and caring individual who was not involved in any activities that would make him a target for violence. His sudden and violent death left his loved ones in a state of profound grief and confusion, desperately seeking answers.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Birmingham Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Detectives have made public appeals for assistance, urging anyone with information to come forward. Despite their efforts and the passage of time, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Anthony Jackson II, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
