In the late hours of a December evening in Brooklyn, a burst of violence shattered the night's calm, leaving a man fatally wounded in the street. On December 15, 2020, at approximately 11:27 p.m., police responded to a distressing call of a man shot in front of 249 Cleveland Street. Arriving at the scene, officers discovered 39-year-old James Bowie, a male resident of Brooklyn, unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest.
Emergency medical services rushed Bowie to
Brookdale Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The initial investigation suggested that the shooting was related to narcotics.
Following what police described as an ongoing investigation, an arrest was made in connection with Bowie's death. On December 28, 2020, authorities took 37-year-old Larry Parham, also a Brooklyn resident, into custody. Parham was subsequently charged with murder and criminal possession of a loaded firearm for his alleged role in the fatal shooting.
