A Black/African American man, Gregory Hunter, 32, was killed in a shooting on the evening of Wednesday, November 2, 2016, in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans. The incident occurred around 8 p.m. in the 4700 block of Prentiss Avenue.
Responding to a call about a shooting, New Orleans police officers discovered Hunter inside a vehicle at the scene. He had sustained at least one gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were dispatched, and Hunter was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office later identified Hunter as one of three homicide victims in the city on that day.
